These include: Cels at Newcastle Micro Incubator A 4,000-square-foot, fully serviced incubator facility with individual 400 square foot units for life science or healthcare start-up companies. Located within Newcastle University’s Medical School, tenants are able to benefit from on-site scientific and business support from Cels. International Centre for Life (ICFL) A purpose built centre of 60,000 square feet providing accommodation for new and established biotechnology companies. The Incubator Suite is designed to allow start-up and spin-out companies to become established and realise potential commercial success. A shared laboratory facility is available for use by the incubator tenants.
North East England has a range of business incubators, bio-parks and business parks for healthcare companies.
The Centre of Excellence for Life Sciences (Cels) manages some of these and provides business support services to tenants of others.
Cramlington Bio-park offers ‘grow on’ bio-incubator space for multiple occupancy in the form of bespoke, purpose-designed units. These range from 1,000 square feet up to 3,000 square feet and are fitted out with both office and laboratory space, with additional access to communal equipment. These facilities will be complemented by stand-alone ‘shell’ buildings of up to 10,000 square feet for larger scale start-ups or for use as ‘grow on’ space for single occupancy tenants.
